Are we really willing to allow our Constitutionally protected Rights to be infringed upon?
In an Update to our Original story: the pastor of the church where these people were all fined for sitting in their cars and worshiping separately together, has filed a law suite against the Governor, watch the video update and read our original story below:
I do not know about y’all, but I am not willing to allow my Constitutional Rights to be infringed upon. I do not have a problem with social distancing, non-essential businesses being ordered to close, or even shelter in place orders (as long as they allow for essential needs, being outside within boundaries, etc). What I am not willing to stand for is my willingness to see a need for some inconvenience to be seen as a weakness in regards to standing for my Constitutionally protected Rights.
Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves issued a Shelter in Place order for the entire state of Mississippi to go into effect on April 5, 2020. Nowhere in that order did he say churches could not have drive in church services, but Democrat Mayor Errick D Simmons of Greenville, Mississippi has done just that.
On April 8, 2020, Mayor Errick D Simmons issued an Executive Order banning in person and drive through church services.
To make matters worse, Greenville Police raided a drive through church service where the 25 or so cars. Those congregation members inside had the windows rolled up listening to the radio tuned to the sermon. Even with these boundaries for social distancing in place, the police still wrote a citation that carries a $500 fine to each member in attendance.
I am a Mississippi girl that actually loves my home, and am very proud of it. I do have a problem with this though. This is a direct violation of the Constitutional Rights of the staff and congregation of Temple Baptist Church in Greenville, MS. The problem is this could happen anywhere in the United States right now. State and Municipal Governments all over this country are grabbing unprecedented power. We must be on guard for over reach even under a National State of Emergency.
