We Now Have 2 Global Pandemics…COVID-19 and PANIC

“PANDEMIC”

This morning the W.H.O. (World Health Organization) announced that they have declared the COVID-19 Coronavirus, a “Global Pandemic.” The Director-General of the W.H.O. said that they do not use the term “Pandemic” lightly. So what exactly does that mean?– With the numbers of infected people reaching 118,000 cases in a 114 countries with 291 deaths; there does not seem to be an end to the spread of this deadly disease any time soon. When we first wrote about it, The number of cases ad only reached around 2,000. It Quickly jumpped to 4,400 a day or two later and China had refused help from The CDC to stop the spread. https://therightway.site/with-4400-confirmed-cases-worldwidechina-refused-cdc-offer-to-help-contain-coronavirus/

And now, we have gone from 2K to 118K cases, in just a little over a month. – That is why they are calling this a Pandemic. However, this information should not cause fear and panic, yet it is. We should be better than that. And officials are still saying that they are absolutley confident that they can get the spread of this Coronavirus under control.

“We have called every day for countries to take urgent and aggressive action,” Tedros said. “We have rung the bell loud and clear.”

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of the WHO

With the W.H.O. declaring this a “Global Pandemic” it opens the doors for for all of the countries from the UN to send money and resources where it is needed most to fight the pandemic. Calling it a “Pandemic,” does not necissarily have anything to do with the leathality of the disease. It is more about it being spread now on every Continent and spreading easily from person to person. However we should still be vigilant, it is still dangerous because of how easily it spreads. There is a comparisan of the similarities and differences between the Flu and the coronavirus here: and Since I have been writing this, the total number of cases has jumpped from 118,000 to 124,663. click the graphic below to get the lastes numbers from Johns Hopkins:

“All countries can still change the course of this pandemic, If countries detect, test, treat, isolate, trace and mobilize their people in the response.”

Right now there is a Hearing from the House Homeland Subcommittee on the Government’s responce to the Coronavirus. They are working out the best ways to give clear and accurate information about what is happening to the public and how to peotct ourselves and our communities, who have all been effected…

The W.H.O. said that Governments around the world are working too slow and not doing enough to stop the spread of the Coronavirus. However, all of this is no need to panic. We need to listen to our health officials about the ways to; One, not get the disease and Two, how not to spread it to others. We have the world’s most inteligent and best prepaired scientists and doctors. They are working around the clock to stop the spread of this disease.

They are recommending that you stay out of large populated areas and stay away from crouds. Stay clear of other people if you, or they, are sick. Wash your hands good and often with soap, or hand sanitizer. Don’t touch your face. Cover your caughs and sneezes. The same advice they give every year to prevent the spread of the Flu. This Coronavirus has not reached it’s peak yet, so eventhough there will likely be higher numbers of cases, we can still stop the spread of it, if we are smart about what we ourselves do right now.

Coronavirus: What you need to know

Important information you should know about coronavirus, what you can do to mitigate its impact, and how you can keep yourself and others safe.

DON’T PANIC

The biggest problem we face though now, is that we are beginning to see panic set in in every state and city around the U.S. There have been reports of big box stores and retailers, such as Costco and Walmart, having to put limits of certain items being purchased such as water, and toilet paper. All because of shortages that are being caused by panicing people. We are seeing shortages of those things, as well as other items like surgical masks, that are needed for people for all kinds of conditions. These poor people, are now not able to get these items that they need to suvive their regular lives, with conditions that have nothing to do with COVID-19. This kind of panic will take as many lives as this disease does; and we can prevent that from happening.

Stories of needless panic accross the Country have filled the healines:

This is a terrible trend that is moving fast. we need t stop it before it becomes out of control and too late. An Infectoius disease doctor posted about this on Facebook. This is what he said:

I am not scared of Covid-19. I am concerned about the implications of a novel infectious agent that has spread the world over and continues to find new footholds in different soil. I am rightly concerned for the welfare of those who are elderly, in frail health or disenfranchised who stand to suffer mostly, and disproportionately, at the hands of this new scourge. But I am not scared of Covid-19.

What I am scared about is the loss of reason and wave of fear that has induced the masses of society into a spellbinding spiral of panic, stockpiling obscene quantities of anything that could fill a bomb shelter adequately in a post-apocalyptic world. I am scared of the N95 masks that are stolen from hospitals and urgent care clinics where they are actually needed for front line healthcare providers and instead are being donned in airports, malls, and coffee lounges, perpetuating even more fear and suspicion of others. I am scared that our hospitals will be overwhelmed with anyone who thinks they ” probably don’t have it but may as well get checked out no matter what because you just never know…” and those with heart failure, emphysema, pneumonia and strokes will pay the price for overfilled ER waiting rooms with only so many doctors and nurses to assess. The Walking Dead

With Grocery Store and Healthcare shortages- that people rely on everyday to survive- caused by the by people who are selfishly panicing and “prepping,” will end up causing more harm to themselves and everyone around them. People will start looting and stealing from the neighbors, Chaos could ensue. But this is not the end of the world as we know it. This is not the “Zombie apocalyps” virus that you have been waiting for to distroy the world so that you can be the next Rick Grimes from “The Walking Dead” There is no Neegan…yet. But if this fear and panic are left unchecked, and it continues, our chances of getting out of this unscathed go down significantly.

This is a largly survivable disease, The majority of those who get it get some flu-like symptoms and then it passes within a few days…that’s it. The people who are really high risk for severe complications from COVID-19 are the same people that are being hurt from the fear and panic that is spreading faster than the virus itself.
